My work focuses on sense of belonging. There have been times in my life when I felt a strong feeling of belonging and comfort, and conversely; I know the sting of being on the outside. My work shows figures in strange and unfamiliar environments. There is a sense of apprehension and uncertainty in my work. Sometimes the figures are alone, but they are most often in groups.  My paintings combine patterns that can be familiar, to landscapes that are surreal or bizarre. Sometimes the landscapes are familiar, but the color and flatness is what is peculiar. The relationship of individuals and groups to their environment is something I continue to explore in my paintings.
